  • illness of the cardholder, someone in the cardholder’s immediate family or the cardholder’s pet

  • the cardholder was laid off from their job 
  • the cardholder has jury duty or is subpoened which cannot be waived or postponed

  • personal illness or injury with advisement by licensed medical professional not to travel.
  • medical advisory issued by a health or government agency that directly affects trip destination.
  • family member or pet with injury or illness that is either life threatening or requires care from licensed medical/veterinary professional (respectively). 
  • death of traveler or family member.
  • job loss.
  • jury duty or court subpoena.
  • traveler or family member called into active military service. 
  • traveler’s or family member’s permanent resident is deemed unsafe to live in or is burglarized.
  • traveler or family member is victim of assault within 10 days of departure.
  • severe weather or natural disaster that causes travel to or from destination to stop for 24+ hours.
