A working paper published by the Bank of Italy suggests a number of new ways of examining the recent decline in Italian core inflation.

In Weakness in Italy’s core inflation and the Phillips curve: the role of labour and financial indicators, Antonio M Conti and Concetta Gigante focus on the period of weak inflationary pressures since 2014.

The authors present several composite indicators for Italy’s labour and financial markets and look at their relevance to Italy’s prevailing Phillips curve.
