Moldova’s finance minister resigned today (November 30) and was appointed governor of the country’s central bank by the country’s parliament.

Octavian Armașu pledged to continue the major reforms of Moldova’s scandal-hit banking sector overseen by his predecessor Sergiu Cioclea, who unexpectedly announced on November 20 that he would resign, effective today. He was two years and eight months into a seven-year term as governor.
