Mark Carney’s term as Bank of England governor ends in January 2020

Potential candidates to replace Mark Carney at the Bank of England (BoE) are being put off by Brexit, according to the UK’s finance minister.

Speaking on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings, Philip Hammond reportedly said the process to find Carney’s replacement was now “underway”.

However, Hammond also said some candidates were hesitant about applying due to political uncertainty around Brexit.
