IMF considers Peru credit line and gives further aid packages

The International Monetary Fund has agreed financial assistance packages with several more countries to help them cope with the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva is also recommending that the IMF’s executive board approve a request by Peru’s authorities for a flexible credit line (FCL). Peru’s government requested an FCL worth around $11 billion, or 8 billion in special drawing rights, the IMF announced on May 8.
