
Former HKMA chief executive Norman Chan
Norman Chan, the former chief executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, has set up his own payment services company with backing from several Chinese firms.
According to a report in the South China Morning Post, Chan’s firm Round Dollar Wallet Technologies will offer digital payment services to facilitate cross-border payments. His company is backed by Chinese firms. Chan is at least the third senior economic policy-maker from Hong Kong to move into the private fintech sector recently.
