
Juan José Echavarría: stepping aside
Central Bank of Colombia governor, Juan José Echavarría, has said he will not seek a second term. He is set to leave the institution at the end of 2020.
Echavarría, 68, informed the central bank’s board of directors on October 30 that he has decided “to step aside due to family reasons”. The governor is approaching the end of his first four-year term in office.
Current regulations allow him to stay for two more terms at the helm of the central bank, as his two most recent predecessors did
