Four years on from its last name change, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority is changing its name again as part of a new central bank law.
In 2016, Sama swapped the ‘Agency’ in its name for ‘Authority’. Now, it officially becomes the ‘Saudi Central Bank’. The Saudi Central Bank takes over all the ‘rights and obligations’ of Sama, and will continue to use the old acronym – which is widely recognised internationally – alongside its new name.
