Bank of England governor Andrew Bailey strongly criticised the European Union’s stance in negotiations with the UK over post-Brexit financial regulation.
Bailey said that the EU was holding the UK to standards it applied to no other country, and would not apply to itself. He warned that these tactics could distract policy-makers from rebuilding European economies after the Covid-19 pandemic.
