The Central Bank of Syria
Syria’s dictatorial president Bashar al-Assad has dismissed the country’s central bank governor Hazem Younes Karfoul, the state news service announced on April 13.
Syria’s currency fell sharply against the dollar on unofficial markets in March as the country’s civil war continues to wreak major economic damage, locally-based reporters said. Reuters reported that Karfoul had reacted by imposing strict limits on cash withdrawals and movements in an effort to stem the currency’s slide.
